Theatr Dan-y-Coed are an immersive Theatre Group based in and around North Wales, who organise, perform, direct and produce,

outdoor, promenade, and Sensory Labyrinth Theatre (SLT) productions & performances. We are also the group who take on arranging

the annual shows at the renowned Caerdroia Forest Labyrinth and outdoor theatre site, in the Gwydyr Forest above Llanrwst at the head

of the Conwy Valley in North Wales.

Established in 2012 by a group of previously experienced performers and artistes who's main interests lay in putting on shows at the Caerdroia Forest Labyrinth site, we have also arranaged shows and performances at other events & festivals. Over a short period of time we have established themselves with several very successful productions (more details).

Trained, and with experience mainly within the Sensory Labyrinth Theatre ethos, techniques and skills, we like to bring own flavour to these shows, and with 50+ members who have a broad range of talents & arts which we bring to every performance, we always enjoy the challenge of new environments and theme's.

You can contact us via our social media, or for more information, or if you're interested in getting involved, you can drop us a line via the contact form below.

Many thanks, TDyC.

A Brief History of Time...

In 2005 the largest labyrinth in the World was built in the Gwydyr forest above Llanrwst in the Conwy valley, the first of it's kind in the UK. Every year since then there have been performances staged at the Labyrinth, known as Sensory Labyrinth Theatre performances. These have become very popular with audiences from all over Wales and further afield.

Every performance is different and in the main the performers are locally based, with many from the Conwy Valley and from across the whole of North Wales and has attracted performers from Bristol, Manchester, London, Portugal, Austria, and Eastern Europe.

In 2012 the 'Theatr Dan-y-Coed' theatre group were established, with the help of Voluntary Arts Wales, specifically for individuals interested in performing or getting involved in the Caerdroia Labyrinth Events and Performances.

This group, made up of experienced, plus a new generation of Caerdroia Labyrinth performers, about 40+ to date with ages ranging from 8 - 80, have taken on the role of recruiting and looking for new performers and often run workshops, gatherings and get togethers either at the GG (Golygfa Gwydyr) building or up at the site.

Each show can involve around 30+ performers and numerous volunteers to help prepare the site, including maintaining and repairing the 1 mile woodland path along which the performances take place, building woodland structures and sculptures, and erecting temporary shelters for the events etc, so there is always plenty to do and get involved with.

The group also take on other projects and performances elsewhere, be they outdoor, indoor, natural or urban environments, but always with a unique style of production and performance, and no show is the same!

If you're interested in finding out more about the performances, or even performing in one of the shows, then it does help if you've attended and experienced one of the performances first, and you can always speak to one of the group after the show to find out more.

Alternatively if you'd like to know more about getting involved and performing in the Caerdroia, sensory Labyrinth Theatre training or just getting involved generally then you can contact us via the form above.
